The CSIAM 14th Annual Meeting is held in Xiangtan, Hunan on August 11-14. Nearly 650 mathematicians, experts, young scholars and students attend the opening ceremony, including Lei Guo (CSIAM president), Yong Xie (vice-chair of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in Hunan) present the prizes, Ya-xiang Yuan (vice president of the China Association for Science and Technology, president of the Chinese Mathematical Society), Jing Zhang (secretary of the Party committee of Xiangtan University), Pingwen Zhang (CSIAM vice president), Song Jiang (CSIAM vice president), Jin'an Lin (deputy editor-in-chief of Higher Education Press), Yunqing Huang (president of Xiangtan University), and Yitang Zhang (professor in University of California, Santa Barbara).

Then, the 6th CSIAM Su Buchin Prize is awarded to Long'an Ying (Peking University) and Ya-xiang Yuan (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences). Sponsored by the Higher Education Press, CSIAM Su Buchin Prize, the top prize for applied mathematics in China, is awarded to industrial and applied mathematicians who has made distinguished contributions to the application of mathematics in economy, technology and social development.

The 3rd CSIAM Young Scholar Prize is awarded to Xin Li (University of Science and Technology of China), Peng Qu (Fudan University), Wei Yang (Xiangtan University), Lei Zhao (Chern Institute of Mathematics, Nankai University), and Tao Zhou (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences). The CSIAM Young Scholar Prize is awarded to outstanding young applied mathematician under the age of 35.

The opening ceremony is chaired by Pingwen Zhang, professor in Peking University.

The 3-day conference has 206 talks in total, including six talks by prize-winners, six invited talks, one embedded meeting, and 11 thematic symposia. The number of talks and the number of participants both hit a record high. The talks cover the most recent advances in all aspects of applied mathematics, as well as in the interdisciplinary research of mathematics and physics, mechanics, biology, medicine, economics, environment science, finance, aerospace, material science, manufacturing and transportation.

According to the CSIAM Bylaws and related regulations, the conference also elects the 7th CSIAM Council, including 146 council members, 47 executive council members, and 15 society leaders. Peking University professor Pingwen Zhang is elected president of CSIAM.

From 2016, the CSIAM annual meeting is going to be held once a year. The conference aims to facilitate academic exchange and further applied mathematics.
