The 3rd meeting of CSIAM 7th Executive Council held in Beijing
On the afternoon of January 14, 2017, the third meeting of CSIAM 7th executive council is held in Peking University. The secretary general Guiying Yan chairs the meeting, and 40 executive council members attend the meeting. The theme of the meeting is looking back on 2016 and looking forward to 2017.
CSIAM president Pingwen Zhang says that since the change of council in August 2016, the society has strived to develop its working committees. Now the committees regulations have been made, and hopefully they could be fully revised by the end of 2017. He emphasizes, the society usually hold three executive council's meetings each year (or more if needed), and important resolutions must be decided by vote; the vice secretary generals-led working committees should work hard to ensure high efficiency of future executive council's meetings.
Then the secretary general Guiying Yan makes a summary of the society's work since August 2016, such as the annual meeting, publicity work (launching a new website, resuming newsletters, and releasing WeChat), and the regulations and work of working committees.
Yan also proposes the plan of 2017. In this year, the nomination for the three CSIAM prizes will begin; the CSIAM annual meeting will be held in Qingdao on October 12-15, when the Student Excellent Paper Prize will be first awarded; the members system will be on trial; CSIAM will strive to initiate a new English journal; the management of professional committees will be further standardized.
