CSIAM 16th Annual Meeting held in Chengdu
The China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics held its annual meeting on September 14-16, 2018.
The three-day meeting, held in Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan, was attended by more than 1000 participants including experts, scholars and students from China, making it the largest in the history of CSIAM, 7 plenary lectures, 4 CSIAM prizes and 476 distribute talks were delivered during the meeting.
The meeting opened with addresses from CSIAM' s president, co-chair of the annual meeting Pingwen Zhang. He expressed deep appreciation to all representatives and local organizers and raised hopes for future of CSIAM.
Four major prizes of CSIAM, which are given biannually, were also given on the meeting. The Academician Lei Guo (Chinese academy of sciences), Professor Jiaxuan Sun (Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences) won the 7th CSIAM Su Buchin Prize. Professor Xiaoshan Gao (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences) won the first CSIAM Wu Wentsun Prize. Professor Yuhong Dai and Professor Guiying Yan (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences) won the first CSIAM Xiao Shutie Prize. Tao Cui (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Fei Jiang (Fuzhou University), Chanying Li (Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Qi Lv (Sichuan University), Jie Ma (University of Science and Technology of China) and Jiangqing Yang (Xian Jiaotong University) won the 4th SIAM Young Scholar Prize.
As President-elect of ICIAM, Ya-xiang Yuan pointed out that the recent development and progress obtained by CSIAM have been recognized. The annual meeting is highly drawing considerable interest as the growing status of CSIAM in the world.
CSIAM will continue to make efforts to build a higher level academic exchange platform for industrial and applied mathematicians, and make important contributions to promote the development of China's industrial and applied mathematics.
