CSIAM Activity Group on Mathematical Modeling was established immediately after the establishment of China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM) in 1990. The first activity group chair was YU Wenyuci, CSIAM executive council member and professor at East China University of Science and Technology, while YE Qixiao, JIANG Qiyuan, TAN Yongji served as vice-chairs. The main task of the activity group is to actively carry out the work on the teaching, research and application of mathematical modeling, as well as to hold national conferences on the teaching, research, application and competition of mathematical modeling. Meanwhile, the activity group has organized the “CSIAM Study Group” (a seminar on industrial and applied mathematics) aimed at enhancing mathematical modeling research, carried out seminars on mathematical modeling and mathematics experimental teaching as well as international exchange activities on mathematical modeling.
